American Flag Face Mask from Selvage Blog

Will we be getting out to celebrate Memorial Day and the 4th of July?
Small picnics with a few people spread apart? Probably.
We will be sporting these patriotic masks when we go out, which isn't often.
See them in my Etsy shop: American flag face mask

I hope the situation improves soon and people someday wonder what this thing is.

Best wishes to you all.

Modern Style Face Mask from Selvage Blog

I'm working on refining a collection of masks that I'm selling on Etsy. We're going to be wearing masks for a while, so it might as well be fun, right? There will be times that we don't want to wear a disposable strictly utilitarian mask. I like this one because it's fresh and modern, kind of artsy, and doesn't introduce lots of new colors to my outfit.

The back side is white so it's reversible. It has a nose wire. It's washable, but I wouldn't subject it to the high heat ...

Face Mask Messages from Selvage Blog

What message does face mask wearing convey? I used to wonder when I saw Asian people wearing masks in public whether they were sick and not wanting to contaminate others, or if they were trying to avoid disease, maybe due to an already compromised immune system. Or both.

Do we mask-wearers come across as considerate of others? Afraid of others? Just following the rules? Are we saying "Back off!" This Love mask invites social interaction. At least it says "Hi, there's a person in here, behind this mask."

This mask wearing thing will take some getting used to. My ...

Our daughter Quarantina!!! from Sew Preeti Quilts

Paul: What is the matter babe?
Me: Cramps
Paul: Oh no!!!
Me: What?
Paul: I was going to name our daughter Quarantina.

New Pattern by Mell Meyer

Ten minutes later, when I stopped laughing, I had to ask...

Me: What if it were a boy?
Paul: I hadn't thought about it.
Me: How does Quarantino sound?
Paul: Nah, doesn't have the same ring to it.

Still laughing...

I was one of the pattern testers for Mell Meyer's new pattern - All the Diagonals.
The pattern is released today.  Her blogpost shows all the pattern testers' finished tops  plus ...

Still Making Masks from Selvage Blog

I don't even know how many masks I've made so far. First ones for my DIL'S hospital, then family and friends, then to sell on Etsy. My skills have improved. The bias ties take time. (They're cut on the straight of the grain, but I use a bias tape making device for these skinny things.) I ordered elastic a month ago, but it still hasn't arrived. Everyone wants elastic and it's sold out everywhere. My sister is a nurse and she insists that ties are more comfortable than elastic; I hope she's right ...

FREE MASK PATTERN: Mask Making 101 from Made By Marney

I have had requests to share a pattern for the masks I am donating. This pattern was originally found on the Craft Passion website. I give all the credit possible to this site for the original pattern. After making a bunch of the masks, I have tweeked the pattern to be a bit more fitted. Now I am super happy with the fit, and it is a very easy pattern to assemble.

I’ve already sewn over 150 face masks to give-away to friends and family. This is not a medical mask, but a mask to use for home, grocery ...

Making Face Masks from Selvage Blog

I started making face masks to donate to my daughter-in-law's hospital in New London, CT. Now making for friends and family. And just listed some on my Etsy shop and they're selling like hotcakes. If you have time, and a fabric stash (duh and duh!) consider selling some on Etsy.
This pretty fabric was designed by Jennifer Paganelli who lives in CT. I think it's a good choice for a mask because it's good quality fabric, and the color is like rosy cheeks.

Fabric Masks (how to) from Sotak Handmade

Hello friends, how are you all doing in this new upside down world of ours?

Hope you're staying safe and healthy. Does anyone else feel like we suddenly live in some sort of insane dystopian society? I certainly get that feeling every time I venture into our local grocery store :(.

Is wearing face masks required where you live? It's not here in the Netherlands so far, but I still made some for my family just in case. And, I got quite a few requests on IG for a video showing how I made my masks so I thought ...

DIY Face Mask to help stop spread of COVID19 from Trillium Design

03/19/2020
As of this moment there are over 10000 cases of COVID-19 in the US.  We need to stop the spread and that is the only way we are going to get through this.  The time for action is now. The CDC and Hospitals around the country are asking for home sewers to make masks.  It's time for us to step up and help each other.  Even if you can't sew you might be able to get these masks into the right hands. Maybe you know someone who works in the medical field who knows who ...

New York City During the Pandemic from Where Art & Life Meet

New York City has now earned the dubious distinction of being the epicenter of the pandemic. I know 6 people whose doctor’s believe they are sick with COVID19, though without the ability to test anyone unless they are incapable of breathing on their own, it’s impossible to verify, and another handful of people who are… Continue reading New York City During the Pandemic

How To Make a Face Mask – And the Research Behind it from Where Art & Life Meet

I spent this past weekend researching and making face masks. I wanted to read as much as I could on the efficacy of face masks, since we’ve been given a great deal of differing opinions. When the U.S. began talking about COVID19 it was generally advised that we not buy and wear face masks. It… Continue reading How To Make a Face Mask – And the Research Behind it
